Kelly Recktenwald , Owner and Teacher
Kelly has been a student of Pilates since 1995, when chronic back pain interfered with her dream of pursuing a dance career. She studied and apprenticed with Zoë Hagler and became a teacher in 2002, completing her advanced training and test-out with Romana Kryzanowska and the Pilates Studio of New York. She holds a B.A. in Dance from CSUF and has extensive experience as a choreographer and performer. She continues her movement education with yearly courses; most recently learning the medically-endorsed Buff Bones® system with Rebekah Rotstein, and has taken workshops with Dorothee VandeWalle, Bob Liekens, and Benjamin Degenhardt (to name a few).
As an Ambassador for the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, Kelly stays active in her local business community, and was awarded the title of American Small Business Champion in 2016 by the SCORE Foundation, and featured in the Business Advocate as a distinguished small business owner in Hillsboro.
Kelly’s motivation as a teacher is to help her students to rediscover their strengths and deepen their mind-body connections through movement. She enjoys the flow of Pilates, and loves to keep her students moving, whether they are post-rehab or gearing up for athletic adventures. She believes that a positive studio experience leads to greater success for every Pilates student.
